Apex

The concept behind Apex wine is simple: to produce a limited quantity of reserve-caliber wines so special and so outstanding that they represent the ultimate in winemaking, "ne plus ultra."

The commitment to making wines of this extraordinary quality begins in the vineyards. Winemaker Brian Carter works with the growers to select the most promising vines and to make sure they produce superb grapes. The process continues through every step of the winemaking process, including aging for an extended period in French oak barrels.

The result is wine that you can enjoy now or cellar for additional depth and complexity. These are wines exceptional enough to be Apex.

Apex II

When crafting Apex, even a very experienced winemaker such as Brian Carter faces a daunting task: how to choose among all the barrels in the cellar to blend the very best possible wine. After all, Brian works with grapes from world-class vineyards, so there are a number of great barrels to choose from.

The best way to maintain the highest standards for Apex is to make less of it. Because Apex wines are produced in such small quantities, what happens to those barrels that aren’t selected for Apex? They become Apex II, the second label from Apex Cellars.

Our goal with Apex II is to offer you an exceptional value—wines that are almost as impressive as Apex, but cost considerably less. Apex II wines are perfect for everyday enjoyment.

Bridgman

In 1902, William B. Bridgman, one of the pioneers of the Washington wine industry, moved to Sunnyside. He was the first to plant wine grapes in the Yakima Valley. In 1914, he planted Harrison Hill, and in 1917, he planted Snipes Mountain vineyard. Bridgman produced dry dinner wines at a time when sweet dessert wines were in vogue. To honor his daring spirit, Bridgman Cellars was introduced in 1993.

Winemaker Brian Carter crafts these exciting wines emphasizing the use of newer varietals – Viognier, for example – produced in smaller lots. Bridgman offers many of the same varieties as other Apex wines, but with more fruit intensity. These delicious wines are designed for you to drink now.
